The Setai: Asian-influenced luxury

The Setai: Asian-influenced luxury

Discreet elegance reigns in this hotel, where the decor and ambience are inspired by Asia.

The Setai, a legendary Art Deco hotel, reopened its doors in 2013, entirely renovated. Far from the ostentatious decoration of many Miami Beach institutions, it still has the Oriental serenity that makes it so unique, along with three swimming pools and four restaurants.

The Burmese teak panels in the lobby are hand-made. The understated elegance that reigns in this hotel is particularly visible in the 120 rooms and suites, particularly the spacious Art Deco suites of this historic 1930s building. They are beautifully decorated with works of Asian-inspired art. Maite Foriasky, the concierge, and Mathias Gervais, two French imports, are responsible for much of the hotel's appeal.

Gervais' new restaurant, Java, opened in December 2015, is an excellent introduction to Silk Road cuisine.
