In the window, a white linen curtain embroidered by hand—and starched, of course—displays the name: La Casalinga. It is clear from first glance that this trattoria serves home cooking, simple, fresh, and accessible to all. The atmosphere is very friendly because everyone has a glass of chianti while waiting.
The eclectic clientele (writers, lawyers, artists, and students) are served bruschetta with tomato, bean soup, ravioli with cream and ham, sausages with vegetables, Florentine tripe, fragrant stews, liver with sage, and polenta with wild mushrooms. The Ferruccio family is from the Tuscan countryside, where people know how to put together a really big meal. They want regulars and tourists alike to leave happy and thoroughly sated.
